Enrollment at Calaveras Unified School District increased by 1.5% compared to previous school year

Calaveras Unified School District's schools enrolled 2,886 students in the 2022-23 school year, 1.5% more than the previous year, according to the California Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.7% of them were boys, and 46.2% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, making up 64.9% of the Calaveras Unified School District's total enrollment.

Calaveras Unified School District covers nine schools within Calaveras County with its main office in San Andreas.

Among the nine schools in Calaveras Unified School District, Calaveras High School recorded the highest enrollment of 746 students in the 2022-23 school year.

In the last decade, enrollment in California elementary and secondary schools rose by at least 5%, while high school enrollment dropped 5%.

However, overall enrollment in California public schools is sliding, and the Public Policy Institute of California expects it to drop another 8% by the 2031-32 school year.
